Green Screen Effect
In our next project we’ll experiment with the “green screen” capabilities in iMovie. For this project students will be doing a short news report on location, only the “location” will be provided with green screen technology. This can be done individually with just one person reporting the news or can involve two people with one interviewing the other.
Procedure:
1. Choose a news story. Do some research about something in current events from anywhere around the world. Or get really creative--you can invent a story from the past or from the future. With green screen technology, you can even report from the moon. You may get ideas from sources like
Scholastic News (kids press corps)
2. Write your script and find your background clip.
3. Record your video in front of the green screen background—We will devote one or two class period to recording video. The screen will be set up in the classroom starting the week of May 5..
4. After the video clips are uploaded in iMovie, use the green screen effect from the advanced tools menu to replace the green background with an appropriate background.
